Quail Rest, a cottage in the middle of nowhere, offered me the chance to truly disconnect from civilization. No WiFi, no distractions, just me and the great outdoors. It was a refreshing change of pace.

As if I hadn't disconnected enough, they even lacked a decent cell signal. How ever did I survive without constant notifications and social media updates?

Stunning lake views, off-grid cabin with fresh flowers in every room. Morning dips in the lake and afternoon wines on the deck were delightful. Highly recommend for exploring or switching off.

Oh, absolutely nothing! It was just perfect.

We had a fantastic stay at Quail Rest Villa! the location by the lake and surrounded by nature was absolutely breathtaking. Sonja and her daughter were incredibly helpful and welcoming, even guiding us when our navigator took us the wrong way. the cottage itself was cozy, well-decorated, and had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. We loved the books that provided insights into the country's landscape and history. Despite the clouds hiding Mt Cook, we enjoyed the stunning views and starry nights. Highly recommended!

    Everything was great! 👍🏼.

Arrive early and enjoy a boat mooring, stunning views, free WiFi, and a cozy fireplace. All supported by solar. Cons: Who needs shops nearby when you can enjoy the peace and quiet?

I recently had the most incredible stay at a hidden gem in the heart of nature. the cozy rooms were beautifully decorated and impeccably clean, offering a haven of comfort after a long day of exploring. the off, the, grid setup was impressive, showcasing a commitment to sustainability. the communication from the host was prompt and clear, making the check, in and check, out process a breeze. I particularly loved the stunning views of the night sky, offering a breathtaking display of stars right from the comfort of my room.

The presence of some bugs, but they were easily managed with the help of the lights.

The cottage was mind-blowingly clean and comfortable, a true sanctuary. Sonja, our host, was super helpful and made check-in a breeze. The off-the-grid setup was impressive and we loved the sustainability aspect. The location was jaw-droppingly peaceful and relaxing, a true escape from the stresses of life. The decor was stunning and the home felt brand new. The kitchen had all the cookware we could ask for and the view of the stars at night was absolutely breathtaking. We can't wait to come back for a longer stay.

Bedroom two at Quail Rest is amazing! The super king bed is so comfy and cozy, I felt like I was sleeping on a fluffy cloud. As a tired traveler, having a good night's sleep was everything for me.

Although I loved everything about the room, the only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the lighting. It felt a bit dim for my liking, but others might enjoy the cozy ambiance it creates.

What an amazing little piece of paradise! This beautifully decorated off-grid hotel was the perfect retreat for our stay. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the entire place was immaculately clean. Sonja and her daughter were enthusiastic and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. The rooms were cozy and delightfully decorated, with books that provided insights into the country's landscape and history. Even though we couldn't see Mt Cook due to clouds, the starry night sky was breathtaking. Highly recommend!

    Would recommend this hotel.
